Environmental Noise Sleep Disturbance: What to do.
Have you ever thought that you would be telling your kids to turn down the radio? In fact, the human ear is incredibly sensitive and the greatest of direction hearing from other animals. But as time moves along, we encounter more and more environmental noise. This noise is what keeps us up or prevents us from getting REM sleep. This is needed for a restful night.
If you have and environmental nosie 55 dbA or more, there is significant increases in sleep interruption. This is a reminder for insomnia patients that noise is relevant in getting that good night sleep. Six to eight hours of quality sleep per night is optimal to maintain health.
Environmental Noise Sleep Disturbance is now considered the worst for insomnia patients. Dishwashers running at night, people playing loud music, or dogs barking randomly through the night. Chronic sleep loss plagues our modern times.
What steps to take:
To minimize background noise; break the habit. No sleeping with the TV turned to you favorite show. No clothes or dish washer running at night. Break the habit of eating late night snacks, avoid alcohol and if all else fails, get some comfortable foam earplugs, these work great while sleeping, visiting your in laws or driving your kids around town. Plus, you can get several pairs just in case of an emergency, such as doors salesmen, commercials, and spouse arguments. You health depends on it.
